Our Approach
Consultation
OCIMC requires every patient to fill out a detailed questionnaire describing the medical history. After completing the Medical History questionnaire, we will schedule and conduct a formal consultation with Dr. Bhakta, and the appropriate collaborating physicians, in person or on the phone where necessary.
The consultation is an important starting point for deciding which tests will be required as well as for explaining what each test will show us.
In keeping with the mission and founding principle of OCIMC, where patients are an active part in shaping their care, we facilitate an interactive dialogue to elicit the patient’s comprehensive medical history. We also ensure that each patient has a clear understanding of the process, including the details of what the patient will be experiencing.
Evaluation
After the initial course of action is determined in the consultation, a particular inventory of tests will be performed to establish both a base line of certain indicators, as well as to enable a more refined diagnosis of the unique factors at work with each patient.
From the patient’s perspective, the test may be as simple as a blood draw or the collection of a urine and stool sample. A registered nurse experienced in integrative care is always available on hand to make each test as routine and as gentle as possible.
From a scientific perspective, we utilize the most advanced testing mechanisms available to determine the combination and severity of a range of common indicators for patients with the particular condition, such as heavy metal toxicity, food and chemical sensitivities, presence of Low-grade viral infections that may be compromising the immune system and other tests.
Typical Tests Include:
Heavy metals screening
Complete infection control
Organic Acids
Metabolic Analysis
Amino Acids
Intestinal Permeability
Food Allergies, Inhalants
Blood Chemistry
Hormones
Analysis
After all of the data has been collected from the prescribed tests, the patient will have a consultation Dr. Bhakta and the appropriate collaborating physicians.
Based on the findings, a treatment protocol will be developed for the patient that might involve anything from a regimen of specific nutritional supplements and dietary recommendations to a multi-visit course in IV therapy and mineral supplementation at our clinic.
Treatments
Treatment protocols at OCIMC are personalized for each patient based on the data collected, the medical history and the results of the various tests. They normally include, but are not limited to the following recognized therapies for integrative care:
HBOT: Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment
IV Chelation
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) (Therapies)
Group Therapy
Speech Therapy
Occupational Therapy
Physical Therapy
Diet and Nutrition Counseling
Our nutrition protocols typically involve a specific sequence of supplements, nutrients and vitamins, often times combined with periodic treatments that may be either capsule based or administered intravenously, depending on each particular patient’s needs, the doctor’s recommendation and the patient’s consent.
OCIMC has very friendly staff and a friendly environment so that any on-site experiences are as stress-free and enjoyable as possible.
Follow-up
One of the most important parts of the OCIMC approach is the consistent follow up between the patient and the OCIMC staff. Follow ups are essential for measuring progress and updating the protocol based on where the patient is in relation to their milestones and goals.
Depending on the specific protocol for each patient, follow ups may be as frequent as monthly or as infrequent as every six months.
OCIMC embraces the power and potential in personalized medicine to put patients with afflictions on the path to recovery.
