About Dr. Chitra:

Dr. Chitra Bhakta is a family medicine specialist and Defeat Autism Now! Doctor practitioner who provides comprehensive personalized health options.  Dr. Bhakta’s approach spans both traditional and innovative medical interventions for an integrative practice that not only provides medical care, but promotes greater health.  She specializes in the treatment of children across what is known as the Autism Spectrum – ranging from those afflicted with ADHD to Aspberger’s Syndrome and the most serious forms of autism as well as various other neuro-developmental disorders.  Dr. Bhakta’s practice reflects her multi-faceted background and utilizes her facility with bio-medical, hyperbaric oxygen, behavioral, sensory, auditory, and speech therapies and more.

Dr. Bhakta graduated from the Medical School at Osmania University, followed by residency training at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Harbor King Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. In addition to her training as a physician, Dr. Bhakta has logged significant experience in respiratory therapy, laboratory analysis and research in areas ranging from anesthesia to blood chemistry. Dr. Bhakta is committed to research and academic medicine as a means to stay at the forefront of her medical practice. She has co-authored a number of medical research papers on performance of pulse oximeters at different oxygen saturation levels, among other topics.  As a physician, Dr. Bhakta has engaged in a variety of continuing education seminars, ranging from the Institute for Medical Studies seminars on autism to allergy treatments and hormone therapy.
